The Horse Warrior’s Terrier

The Bankhar dog from mongolianz website

There is this fellow that I see occasionally. The first time I remember meeting him was when Teddi was a couple years old. He looks like a Mongolian horse lord, replete with a Fu Manchu style beard and mustache. The same squat muscular build of a plain’s warrior from the Asian Steppe. He is a really nice guy, and he always has his tiny white terrier in tow. He and I rarely visit, at minimum we always exchange greetings and smile. I cannot help but imagine him leaping onto the back of one of those small sturdy indefatigable horses that the Mongols rode to conquer half the world.

Meanwhile, back here in Vermont his terrier and mine just rubbed noses and he said, “Happy New Year."

I mostly go by the name Michael Hutchings, sometimes: V. Michael Hutchings, sometimes Vernon or Vernon M. Hutchings. I love politics, history, and technology. I grew up in Westland, MI, moved to New Hampshire, then to Colorado; and finally, settled down in Vermont. Retired. Every day is a Saturday.
