RIP Alice Vartanian-King

One of my best friends died today. An enduring memory: one of three people at their wedding some three decades ago, standing on the rocks in hiking boots alongside two of Alice’s maids of honor, me, best man to Wayne, my brother from another mother, gathered on an island in the middle of a stream that would become, in time, the brook that ran behind their loving home, designed and built by their love. Wayne lost his wife today. My heart breaks for Wayne and their son Zack. It was unexpected. I will always remember Alice, in her prime, as a vivacious dark haired Armenian beauty. Wayne called her his girlfriend to the last day of her life.  Alice had a quick beautiful mind and a razor-sharp tongue. Getting old sucks. You will be missed Alice Vartanian – King. Rest in peace.

I mostly go by the name Michael Hutchings, sometimes: V. Michael Hutchings, sometimes Vernon or Vernon M. Hutchings. I love politics, history, and technology. I grew up in Westland, MI, moved to New Hampshire, then to Colorado; and finally, settled down in Vermont. Retired. Every day is a Saturday.
