Spending time with my grand nieces has been wonderful. It’s totally my fault that I do not have a relationship with Anaka and Josie, but Michigan to Vermont is such an imposing physical barrier and children change so frequently as they grow and negotiate this life. Excuse. Probably. I’m glad that Aramenda is the first stop on my ‘walkabout’. Like many adult relatives, I want to freeze the moment in time, a snapshot, so to speak. In an effort to do that – all three of us sat down and talked. We agreed that they would each answer the same three questions. Here goes . . .
If you had a time machine where would you travel and why?
Anaka: I would want to go to the 1800’s and become a pirate or a cow girl. Because I really like pirates and cow girls.
Josie: Back before the dinosaurs. Just to see what was happening then. Nobody really knows what it was like, except for maybe the turtles. Sea Turtles. They are special and related to dinosaurs and maybe the sand turtles too.
Who are your best friends and why?
Anaka: My best friends are Lindsey, Avery ,and Josie. I chose them because they are very nice understanding and they are smart.
Josie: The three new people in my class Evie, Ezra’s sister and the other I forgot her name. I just met them today. They are so fun and so kind. They really wanted to play with me.
What is your favorite thing to do in school?
Anaka: My favorite thing to do in school is hang out with my friends and writing
Josie: To go to the math-side with Mr. Hyska. I think it is going to be fun, last year with Mrs. Pelzer it was a lot of fun and so much action.
Precious. Hope they all come, kids, dogs and mom and dad to Vermont in 2019!
